Friends of St. Anthony of Padua School,

Our progress toward normalcy continues and we are proud to say the damaging effects of Katrina have been obliterated.  In addition to renovating the physical plant, we have been able to make some significant improvements which will benefit our students greatly.  We are purchasing all new textbooks (many with discs to allow textbooks to remain in school), new desks and chairs for each classroom, many new books for the library.  Our technology department has been improved with the addition of up to date computers and new software.  Our enrollment is strong but not to the level it was before the hurricane.  We are recruiting and offering walk-through tours for interested parents and students.  Our faculty is stable and strong.   We have been fortunate to retain teachers for many years and when necessary to find teachers who embrace our mission and our dedication.

Our Early Childhood Program continues to use the Montessori Method and has been shown to be very effective in evoking student progress.  Students going to first grade are well prepared to begin the elementary curriculum.  Our elementary program in grades 1 through 5 focuses primarily on academic areas and skills in a sequential manner to prepare the child for each step of the educational process.  Our middle school which contains sixth, seventh, and eighth grades concentrates on core subjects that are necessary for successful entrance into high school.  A strong indicator of success of St. Anthony of Padua School is the outstanding achievement of our students as they continue the educational process in high school and college.  But we are about more than academics!  We strive to foster a spirit that reflects our Catholic tradition, that teaches values and good morals, that provides opportunities to develop social skills beyond the classroom.  Our students through service to others develop an awareness of social justice and develop consciousness of the needs of the human family.

The mission of St. Anthony of Padua School is to provide educational excellence according to the Dominican tradition in a multi-cultural, Catholic community with emphasis on Gospel values.  We ask that you be part of our mission by keeping us in your prayers.  You may contact us in various ways.
