The Middle School Program challenges students in sixth and seventh grades to explore their talents, both academically and socially.  During this time of rapid growth and change, students are given opportunities to extend their academic horizons, develop leadership abilities, and take greater responsibility for their own lives.  Students are given numerous opportunities to interact with adult and fellow students as they develop the social skills needed to work through the challenging middle school years. The academic program in the middle school is structured to provide opportunities for advanced studies which facilitate success in high school and college.  Students needs are met through differentiated instructions such as cooperative learning, small group instructions, peer tutoring, leveled groups, individualized instructions, technology assisted instruction and study groups.  This style of teaching makes learning personalized and rewarding, and is enhanced by the small class sizes (25 or less students per class.) In keeping with the desire to instill independence in all middle school students, students are reminded that they must obtain and complete all assignments.  Study hall is available for students to make up work, do research, or for reinforcement in various subject areas. The middle school students are able to explore their talents, both academically and socially through music, art, and physical education.  Students are also encouraged to participate in age-appropriate extra-curricular activities such as choir, chess, cheerleading, band, ballet, altar service, sports, scouts, student council, quiz bowl, and geography and spelling bees.
